CalcWyse publishes free US money calculators and guides built on one calculation engine and official IRS, SSA and CMS figures. Who we are, how we work and how the site is funded.
CalcWyse is a free, independent site of calculators and guides for money decisions in the United States: what a salary takes home, what a mortgage costs, how much to save, when to claim Social Security. Our aim is simple — run the numbers before the money moves.
What we publish
- Calculators for taxes and pay, mortgages and loans, retirement and investing, health accounts and everyday math. They run in your browser; the numbers you type are not sent to us or stored. Browse all calculators.
- Guides that answer one question each, lead with the answer, and show the math behind it. Browse guides.
- Take-home pay tables by state, from $30,000 to $200,000, for the states whose 2026 rules we have verified. Salary after taxes by state.
- Open data you can cite or reuse, with sources. Data and media.
How we keep the numbers right
- One engine. Worked examples in guides are produced by the same code that runs the calculators, so an article and a tool cannot disagree.
- Official sources. Tax brackets, contribution limits, benefit amounts and premiums come from the IRS, the Social Security Administration, CMS, FHFA and state revenue departments. Each annual figure is stored once — for 2026, for example, the 401(k) limit of $24,500 and the standard deduction of $16,100 — and every page reads it from there.
- Checked before release. Automated checks recompute published examples and stop a release if a figure drifts.
- Corrections in public. When we fix a number a reader could have relied on, we log it on the editorial standards page.

What CalcWyse is not
We are not a lender, broker, tax preparer or financial adviser, and nothing here is personal advice. Calculators produce estimates from the inputs and assumptions shown. For a binding figure — a loan quote, a tax return, a benefit claim — use the provider or agency that issues it.
Who is behind it
CalcWyse is written and maintained by the CalcWyse Editorial Team. We do not publish sponsored articles or paid placements.
How the site is funded
CalcWyse is free to use. The site is designed to be supported by display advertising, and some pages may contain affiliate links, which are identified on the page; see the affiliate disclosure. Advertisers and partners have no say over calculator math, rankings or conclusions.
